BATCO COMPUTER AND NETWORKING PROCEDURES
This document covers
A. Control The ImageServer2000 (IS) from home PC

C. Create and Upload the Schedule to the IS and to BatCo.TV web site

The goal is to put all these things on the web site with links to
successively greater detail. - RM]
A. Control The ImageServer2000 (IS) from home PC
1. Your computer must have SonicWall Global VPN Client installed:

SonicWall IP: 24.91.87.77
2. The BatCo Station Manager must have setup an account for you on the
SonicWall
with a user name and password.
3. Your computer must have 360Systems Remote Workstation Interface
(RWI) installed:

Use BatCo CD (RWI does not work on a MAC at this time)
Use ImageServer IP: 192.168.248.205
4. Activate SonicWall client then activate RWI - you can now control
the cablecast.

B. Upload Bulletins and other Clips from PC or MAC (or BatCoPC or
BroadcastPix)
1. see A.1 & activate SonicWall client (Not needed if at Town Hall).
2. Your computer must have an FTP client (e.g.
http://filezilla-project.org)
Use ImageServer IP: 192.168.248.205
3. Send MPG or DV video clips to the IS. Be sure to adhere to BatCo
File Naming Conventions.
e.g. all selectmen meeting file name start with "s_".
c.f. item F. below.
4. If clip names have been REPLACED, the schdule must be recomplied and
uploaded.

C. Create and Upload the Schedule to the IS and to BatCo.TV web site
1. see A.1 & activate SonicWall client (Not needed if at Town Hall).
2. (Not needed if at Town Hall) On a PC create a shortcut to
%SystemRoot%\system32\mstsc.exe
This step (C.2) only needs to be done once - thereafter it remembers.
Connect to 192.168.248.207:3389
3. Open the folder named "SCHEDULE" and edit schedin.dat as needed.
Run PlaylistSched.exe and answer the questions.
( The program automaticly gets the current clip list from the IS. )
Hit "e" for exit and the schedule(s) will be created.
4. Click on 'UPLOAD LST FILE to IS2000 & Web Files to batco.tv.bat'
This causes the .LST file to be sent to the IS, and
it sends the schedule listings to the BatCo.TV web site.
5. Email the file WeekSched.TXT to the editor at the Bolton Common.
D. Ingest Town Hall Meetings (e.g. Board of Selectmen)
1. Turn on power bar in the sound booth, then toggle on BroadCastPix
power switch.
a. Arrainge microphones, including one or more for the audience. Do
sound test.
b. Get a copy of the agenda for the evening, and make overlays [ Bob,
what? ]
c. Find out if projections will be used and make sure presenter knows
where cameras are.
2. Using the RWI open Channel 1 and File / New - name the file, e.g.
"s_Selectmen_12_May"
You are now ready to hit 'Record".

E. Ingest Town Meetings in the NRSD auditorium
1. Setup Camera on tripod above the sound booth.
Connect the wireless audio feed to the camera.
Zoom in tight on the lecture then "Fix the camera focus". This prevents
the camera from changing/fuzzing focus on the curtain, etc.

F. Making Bulletins and Video Clips (c.f. item B) from home PC or MAC
1. see B.1 & activate SonicWall client.
2. see B.2 & connect.
3. Open the folder named "TEMP UPLOAD". (C:/temp); open DVD and drag
VOB files to c:/temp.
4. Open the "MPEG Video Wizard". (So far these steps are not bachable.)
5. Type Ctrl+N to open a 'new project' - this clears the old file.
6. Drag and drop .MPG, .VOB (from DVD), and .JPG (stills) onto the top
TimeLine ...
7. Open the "TITLE EDITOR" GUI and create text messages ... drag and
drop title
files on the 2nd TimeLine (Text)
8. Drag and drop .WAV, .MID, .MP3, or .WMA files onto the 3rd TimeLine
(Audio) ...
9. Organize, trim and coordinate the three timelines into the desired
show.
10. Open the "EXPORT" GUI - select the "General" tab:
Project File - ignore; Mpeg file - ignore
File Format - MPEG-2 Video
Save Range - click All (or WorkArea)
11. Open the "EXPORT" GUI - select the "Video" tab:
Reference - ignore
Stream - MPEG-2; Expert: field-order: Bottom Field First
Resolution - Width: 352 Height 480 OR Width: 720 Height 480
Frame Rate 29.92 Frame/Sec
Bit Rate: Variable Bit Rate (VBR) - whatever
12. Open the "EXPORT" GUI - select the "Audio" tab: THIS IS THE BIGGIE!
Reference - ignore
Stream - Layer II
Channels - Stereo
Sample Rate - 48.0 kHz - DOUBLE CHECK THIS!
Bit Rate - 224 kbps (other settingss may work)
13. Open the "EXPORT" GUI - select the "Monitor" tab:
Hit Start
Hit Detail - then check the Audio and Video settings again.
14. Goto item B.
G. Access to files on BatCoPC from home PC
1. have SonicWall Global Client in Windows XP 'startup' folder.
2. map a shortcut to \\192.168.248.207\schedule
3. access files via the shortcut.
H. The amazing 30 second Ingest
1. Stop car at town hall, unlock door, relock door, open blue box, open
DVD tray, insert DVD.
2. close blue box, exit town hall, enter car - elapsed time: 30 seconds!
3. Go home and do item F.
